Food and Wine for Thought

Rose of Pinot Noir paired with Pork Chops

I thought I’d get into wines now to lighten up the mood on here. I usually don’t go for Rose but this one was specifically from Pinot Noir grapes, also known as a variety. A varietal wine is a wine made primarily from a single names grape variety and is typically displayed on the wine label. There are all different restrictions and requirements for wine labels, listing varietals, vintages, AVA areas, etc. specific for each region.

Here I have a Viansa 2019 Rose of Pinot Noir from Carneros Sonoma. This wine was cellared & bottled by Viansa Winery which means the grapes came from different vineyards in the Carneros, Sonoma County AVA area. (AVA means American Viticulture Area). 2019 is called the vintage which is the year the grapes were harvested.

The sweet and light flavor profile of cooked pork chops is best paired with medium bodied and light red wines. The fruity flavor and low tannin levels of this wine compliments the pork chops perfectly versus overpowering them.

Saluti!
